Alcova, WY: Fremont Canyon, July 2016

With all the iconic stretches of flyfishing water on the North Platte River in Wyoming, I had to try them all on this trip. We were here the previous year, but due to shoulder surgery, I could only scout out the accesses. A lesser known piece of water flows thru the Fremont Canyon, which I found to be a very pleasant surprise. So each evening we headed there a little before dusk. These type of places are what makes the flyfishing out west so very special: great water running thru canyon setting, wildlife to enjoy, and of course, quality wild trout. Very easy to get immersed in it and carry all the worries of the world out of the picture. Charlcie just enjoyed reading her book in this setting as I fished.
Beautiful dusk experience

My favorite place to fish every evening:  North Platte before entering Fremont Canyon
An idea of the scale and beauty (and very nice trout!)
Some kind of grouse along the roadside on the way back to camp
